Office Etiquette

Yes, there is such a thing.

And it’s necessary.

For example, it’s vital to understand that you cannot holler and scream and literally ROFL (especially not the way UMass Boston’s Campus Center offices are organized.. Everyone hears everything. Yes, loud group on the floor beneath us that shall go unnamed, we hear you too  -_-   ). But anyway, another vital thing to understand is SPACE. An office is an office… Okay I could lecture but instead, I’ll just paint the picture for you.

Imagine you are working in an office designed like a cubicle space with a computer, phone, a few readily accessible office supplies (pens, pencils, markers, scissors, tape, highlighter, stapler, etc.), and a mailbox. Your day begins at 9am and ends at 5pm. You walk into the office and work diligently on a particular project you’re coordinating.  Quick bathroom break. You return to find your scissors, highlighter, and a pen you were using are missing. =/ Okay, maybe you misplaced them somehow. Besides, you didn’t have a coffee today..

So the day goes on and you decide to grab a snickers from the vending machine. You return and the stapler is missing. Okay, now you know something’s fishy. You ask around the office to find out if any of your co-workers are borrowing these items and they all say “no” and by the time you get back to your desk, a random Joe Schmoe student is sitting at your desk eating lunch and studying.

OH HHHHECKS NO! Sorry Joe, ya gots ta go!

It be tweet-worthy up in here!!! #C’monSon
